French retailer Carrefour is to sell its stake in its joint venture with Marinopoulos Group. The move will make Marinopoulos the exclusive franchisee of Carrefour in Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria and the Balkans. As a result, Carrefour may incur a charge of approximately EUR220 million (USD290 million) due to the discontinued activities. On the other hand, Marinopoulos will reportedly invest more than EUR350 million (USD462 million) in the operation and retain Carrefour's brand.
