Grocery retailer Louis Delhaize is to exit Hungary with retail associations CBA and COOP Hungary in the final stage of acquiring its Match supermarkets and Profi discount stores, Napi Gazdaság reports citing market sources. State development bank MFB is to provide a loan to CBA while COOP Hungary has its own funds for the purchase.
According to the newspaper, CBA will take over Match and Profi stores in the Budapest and Pest region while Coop will take the rest of the units, with a possible overlap in some areas depending on market potential. In January 2012, Louis Delhaize sold all seven of its Cora hypermarkets in Hungary to Auchan.
