German retailer Rewe Group-owned supermarket operator Billa wants to open up to 15 new stores in Russia this year, Rewe International Board Member Janusz Kulik has told Vedomosti. Following investments of EUR150 million (USD193 million) last year, Kulik has not disclosed the sums earmarked for this year. He noted that Rewe Group is also looking at several potential acquisition targets, but asking prices are high. Kulik added that “Russia is one of the priority markets for the group and provides good growth.”
