Yildiz Holding, Turkey’s largest food firm, has said it aims to double its overseas sales within five years, as it sees no further scope for growth in the home market. In media comments, Vice Chairman Ali Ulker noted: “In the food segment in Turkey we are in almost all categories, so there is not much space left for us to grow.”
Ulker said the group aims to generate $2bn in sales outside of Turkey by 2018, up from $790m in 2011. He added that Central Asia and sub-Saharan Africa will form some of its biggest growth markets. Yildiz, which owns biscuit brand Ulker and premium chocolate Godiva, is also looking for production facilities in sub-Saharan Africa.
Yildiz also owns cash-and-carry chain Bizim Toptan, dairy manufacturer Icim and coffee brand Cafe Crown.
