Carrefour has bought the remaining 50% stake in Carcoop, its joint venture with Coop Atlantique, Linéaires reports. This end the nearly three year soap-opera which ensued when Carrefour's former partner announced it would join rival Système U in early 2012. The six hypermarkets of the joint venture were initially to be shared between the two partners, but Carrefour managed to keep the outlets' branding and the management of the operation under its control in summer last year. Following the acquisition, Carcoop is now a 100% subsidiary of the French retailer, securing its network in northern and central France.
